“The cottage has been perfect.”
“A lovely stay at Merok Cottage. Weather has been perfect. Lots of sight-seeing and walks including a walk to Coghlan’s Tea Room and Bakery in Barningham Park. Well worth a visit. Cottage has been perfect.”
“A little gem for your stay.”
Merok Cottage is a lovely, peaceful, exceptionally clean and a perfect base for lots of places to visit, walks, museums, Barnard Castle. We would definitely recommend this little gem for your stay.
“Merok Cottage is simply gorgeous.”
Simply gorgeous, and much bigger inside than it looks on the website. Merok Cottage is beautifully (and tastefully) presented and very well-equipped, with every kitchen utensil you could need, a toasty warm Rayburn, and nice extra touches such as games and books. It has a lovely view from the back garden, and parking is directly outside the front door. Newsham is a pretty, unspoiled, quiet village that is very well positioned for trips out around the Dales and County Durham. We would not hesitate to book this lovely home again in the future. The welcome bottle of wine was a very nice touch, too!
“Amazing cosy cottage with great amenities.”
Rayburn was a lovely addition and interesting and unusual to cook on. Comfy bed and fabulous wood burner. The photos don't do the cottage justice. Looking forward to going back. Many thanks.
“A very relaxing stay.”
What a lovely, cosy, peaceful, little gem of a cottage. We have had a lovely stay. Enjoyed the views from the kitchen window watching all the birds. A very relaxing stay. Can I say 100% to your housekeeper, this cottage is spotless and thank you for the little extras, wine, milk, etc.
“The view from the kitchen and garden is priceless.”
Duncan’s cottage is lovely, spacious, clean, well equipped and a really comfortable space. Loved the decor, slept so well in the beds and the view from the kitchen and garden is priceless. We really loved exploring a new part of Yorkshire for us and had fantastic weather, will return in colder months to enjoy the fire in the living room! Great communication from Duncan and very easy check in process. Thank you!
“A lovely, cosy and comfortable cottage.”
This is a lovely, cosy and comfortable cottage – even better than the photos suggest. We spent a lot of time there and it had everything we could have needed. There were lots of thoughtful touches, a really comfortable bed and the communication and check-in couldn't have been better / easier, either. It's a beautiful area and incredibly quiet and peaceful, too - we hope to be back to explore further!
“Merok Cottage is such a charming and welcoming place.”
We stayed with our dog Toby for 3 nights and it was fantastic. A great location for enjoying local walks and for exploring into North Yorkshire, County Durham and Teesdale. We spent a whole day at the nearby Bowes Museum (highly recommended). The bottle of wine on arrival was a lovely touch. Will definitely be coming back.
“The log burner was so cosy in the evenings.”
What a wonderful stay at this delightful cottage. Everything we needed. Visited many places including Reeth, Thirsk, Barnard Castle, Middleham and even Hadrian’s Wall! Plenty of walks in and around Newsham. The log burner was so cosy in the evenings. We saw two woodpeckers from the window!
“Lovely cottage, nice local walks, explored the Lakes, Yorkshire Moors, Castle Howard and York Minster.”
“The Morritt Arms at Greta Bridge is well worth visiting.”
“Lovely cottage. Great base for walking or if you just want to do nothing!”
“Quietness, peace, warmth & comfort, in a lovely village cottage.”
“A great cottage in a wonderful location.”
“The cottage is an absolute delight - we had a great time.”
“An excellent cottage, both in presentation and location.”
“The cottage is well equipped, including games and books for all ages.”
Merok cottage was more spacious than we had anticipated. The wood burner and Rayburn stove kept the place very cosy and the beds are lovely and comfortable. There are beautiful views to the back of the cottage. The cottage is well equipped, including games and books for all ages. We had no problem parking outside and it was easy to access places of interest such as the Beamish Museum (highly recommended for kids and grown-ups) and the Dales. We will definitely be back, if we can find a time when it is not already booked!
